*Please note that all in-city full day programs are now referred to as Wilderkids.
We know that you miss adventuring outside of the city like Adventure Out used to, and we do too! We’re currently exploring options for whether we can make that happen again – stay tuned for more information!
*The details below are from the 2022/23 season
Full-day programs allow participants to tackle larger projects, form strong connections with peers and mentors, and develop a deep connection to their local environment. Spending the entire day outside, in all weather, participants build resilience, awareness and self-confidence.
*Pine programs will adhere to provincial and municipal Covid-19 public health guidelines as they continue to evolve.
*Typically, Adventure Out is hosted in Norval, Ontario. However, given the ongoing closure of Norval Outdoor School, the 2022/23 program will be held in West End Toronto. We’re excited to dive deep into nature mysteries hidden in our own backyard and connect with our home environment.
*Given that the program is being offered in the city, Adventure Out is offered to participants of all skill levels!
We offer this full-day program for two age groups. Please click “More Info” below.
We offer programming for two age groups:
Fiery Foxes (Ages 7-9)
We know Fiery Foxes are growing quickly and itching to do things for themselves. That’s why we make each week an exciting new outdoor adventure! We set off on long wanders through the forest, carve tools and craft baskets, play games that test our teamwork, and more. By creating with their hands and working as a group, Fiery Foxes learn what they’re capable of.
Ravens (Ages 10-13)
We know Ravens are craving independence and starting to develop their own world view. That’s why we create a safe space in nature for them to push themselves physically and mentally. We explore the farthest reaches of the forest, think about our impact on our environment, and follow our passions to create bigger and better projects. By creating with their hands and taking time to reflect, Ravens build self-confidence, empathy and leadership.
Content for both groups may include the following skills and knowledge, in age-appropriate ways:
- About a wide array of plants and animals that share our environment
- How different plants can be used
- How to identify and manage risk
- Survival skills like fire-building, carving, and long term shelter-building
- Teamwork, leadership, overcoming challenges and problem-solving
- Stewardship education
